Kaoru Utsumi reaches her 30th birthday still unable to find a place amongst her male-dominated workplace, the North Kaizuka Police Precinct. She's been recommended to do a year of work study in Oklahoma, USA, and is facing a crossroads in her life. It's then, however, that she nabs Kenichi Jonen, a wanted criminal in Nagano. She found Jonen with an old woman, already deceased. Apparently, he had killed the old woman's daughter in an argument, and came to Tokyo with the old woman. Kaoru gets a confession from him, and was regaining some confidence in her abilities as a police officer. But as soon as Jonen is in the custody of the Nagano Police, he denies all charges, including his own testimony with Kaoru. Kaoru is suspected of having lied to look good. Kaoru begins a reinvestigation in Nagano with prefectural officer Kento Toma, but she runs into a reporter, Komoto, who alerts her to a strange message claiming "There's a crooked cop who drove an innocent reporter to suicide". And the reporter in question is none other than the father of the old lady's daughter who was supposedly killed by Kenichi Jonen... As soon as the mysterious note went into circulation, the reporter's wife and daughter died... How are the two cases connected? Kaoru's final battle begins.
