Yuki Matsushita, Reiko Takashima, Asaka Seto, Mari Hoshino, Hidetoshi Nishijima
In the age of Shogun Iemitsu, Kasuga No Tsubone, once known as Fuku (Yuki Matsushita) ruled over the women's quarters at Edo Castle, the Ooku. A maid Otama (Mari Hoshino) asks her senior Asahina (Meiko Kaji) about Fuku's past. More than thirty years ago, Fuku had been wed into a samurai family, but a certain incident caused her to break ties and leave her three children behind. She found a posting from the Shogunate looking for a wet nurse, so she came to the castle. Oeyo, the wife of the second Shogun Hidetada Tokugawa, gave birth to Takechiyo, and Fuku was assigned to raise him. This marked the start of Fuku's conflict with Oeyo.
